Functionality is Paramount

Vancouver-based Joey Restaurants' "fine casual" is a proven concept with more than 20 locations across Canada. When the ownership group eyed a U.S. expansion beyond its Seattle test kitchen, they envisioned an attractive wine storage system with refrigeration that would complement the brand’s vibe at their new trendy locations in downtown Los Angeles, Joey DTLA, and Manhattan Beach, Joey Manhattan Beach.


The systems were designed and installed by another company, and almost immediately, the staff encountered mildew, mold and other issues with the wine storage systems. The problems were overwhelming and thought unsolvable. 

Project Highlights:

Harmonic Wine Displays consulted closely on the new builds, collaborating with Joey Restaurants’ staff and vendors to quickly solve the functionality and visual puzzles including: temperature and humidity control, door elements, and a lighting system that would work with the house lighting system providing an ambient "color temperature" that accentuated their wine collection.
Our team was able to complete the demo and removal of old units and the design and installation of new units in record time, so the disruption to Joey Restaurants’ new market operations was minimized.

Each Restaurant Poses Unique Challenges

Because of Harmonic Wine Displays’ responsiveness to these challenges and our attention to detail, we were retained by Joey Restaurants to execute wine cooler systems for Joey Uptown in Houston, TX,  and Joey Aventura in FL (opening 2023).

Our design team usually requires no more than new dimensions to start customizing cooler builds with new locations. Joey Restaurants are also now helping equip and source new kitchen hardware, giving their restaurant management group peace of mind as they stabilize operations in new markets.
